Workspace.xml path in linux

Hello all,
 
I'm having complaints from folks running on Linux that point to
misconfiguration issues regarding the path to workspace.xml. It appears
that under the workspaces/default directory, they end up with a file:
"default\workspace.xml". I'm curious if anyone else has run in to a
similar issue.
