Abdera2 Git branch of abdera is not up to date

Hi,

does anybody knows, why the abdera2 Git branch of the abdera project has not
received updates from SVN since september 20th? Should this be solved, by
whom?
The abdera2 branch lives outside of the branches/ dir at the root level of the
SVN repo. Why?

Best regards,

Thomas Koch, http://www.koch.ro

The abdera.git mirror is tracking the
/repos/asf/abdera/java/{trunk,branches,tags} that was last modified in
revision 1210126 on December 4th.

Should the mirror be updated to track /repos/asf/abdera/abdera2
instead? Will there be a standard {trunk, branches, tags} structure for
that subtree?

Re: Votes about switch to Git

There has been no vote. I was just pointing out that although in the
past ASF projects have only been able to use SVN recently that has
changed and Git is now an option too.

I think moving to Git might be a good idea here, especially if we can
do it for Abdera2 and leave the old 1.x in SVN. I have to admit though
I'm a bit of a dinosaur and know little about Git. I think I know the
buttons to press at the ASF to get the change to happen but once it
did i wouldn't know how to use it, so we'd need help from you people
in the community to get it working well.

That makes so far after a week:

comitters:
ant elder +1?
James M Snell +0

non-comitters:
Daniel E. Renfer +1
Thomas Koch +1

Maybe you'd like to call for an official vote?

While switching to Git you could split the separate abdera sub projects into
separate Git repositories. James suggested to release abdera2-core without
abdera2-server for now.

+1 to this. There have been times I've wanted to submit/work on little
patches but have been turned away by SVN not wanting to work the way I want.

It is possible for ASF projects to use Git instead of SVN now so if
thats preferred by all the devs we could look at switching over.
