Older OpenOffice.org releases

Hi,

Could anyone tell me where to download older OpenOffice.org
releases from such as 3.2.x, preferably also localised ones
(the Dutch release in particular)?

Some bugs have crept into later OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice
releases causing them to be unuseable in an office environment
where OpenOffice.org is currently deployed.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Sunil

Re: OO Writer, footnote question (additional info)

Posted by Michelle Miller <Mi...@speedconnect.com>.
Oh, I just noticed something else about my question. Those with the
correctly-black number show (when I click the mouse on them) that the style
is "Default" even though it is a footnote. Those with the grayed numbers
all show that the style is "Footnote." ("Default" is the style I'm using on
the main document.)

Actually, this was originally a WordPerfect, and then a Word file, so even
those footnotes which show as being "Default" style are in all different
layouts. Some are center justified, some disappear off to the left, etc.
Some just show three dots and no text in the footnote at all, although if I
click on the anchor, the full text of the footnote is revealed with the
pointy-hand. So, the whole situation is a little whacko. I can fix these
other things, but I don't know how a footnote can be "Default," and not
"Footnote" in its Style.

Thanks much!

OO Writer, footnote question

Posted by Michelle Miller <Mi...@speedconnect.com>.
Can someone please tell me why some of the footnote numbers are black (as
they are supposed to be) and others are gray?

This is not the footnote anchor (where it attaches to the text), but the
number that actually opens the footnote in the footer. I've looked at the
"Format: Style: Footnote/Footnote Anchor/Footnote Character" settings, and
all are set to Black. Yet, some numbers are still grayed. If I delete one
of the grayed footnotes, and start over, it still makes the new one gray.

Can anyone help?

Thanks much,
Michelle

Just in case you don't know where to find them... Pre-releases (dev
snapshots, actually) are available at http://s.apache.org/l8 and are
usually updated on Mondays-Tuesdays and announced on the -dev list. They
can be installed without replacing your existing installation.

RE: Installing OpenOfficeo on Tablets ( was: Older OpenOffice.org releases )

There are several announced models of the Iconia Tab, <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Iconia>. If the model number begins with A, the computer runs Android. If it begins with W, it runs Windows and a regular install of OpenOffice might work if there is enough storage.

Which is it?

Hello Laureen,

Well, chances are that you can not do what you are looking for, or at
least not in a very straight forward way.

Most tablets use an operating system (the bits that run the software you
would install) of a type inconsistent with the use of OpenOffice.org.

However before dismissing this as -can't do it- could I ask what exact
tablet you are wanting to run this on, first?

Thanks

Re: Older OpenOffice.org releases

Posted by Sunil Amitkumar Janki <de...@gmail.com>.
Hi,

I have been testing Kubuntu 11.10 AMD64 as a replacement
for a Slackware 13.1.0 based desktop that currently
works quite well except for a few minor bugs in KDE itself.

On Kubuntu the preinstalled LibreOffice is buggy and unstable
so I uninstalled it and installed the much more stable 64-bit
version of OpenOffice.org 3.3.0.

However, the subtotal functionality that is heavily used at least
in the office environment where OpenOffice.org has been
deployed, appears to have been broken between 32-bit
OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 on the old OS and 64-bit 3.3.0 on
the new OS.

I have not been able to test the 32-bit binaries of OpenOffice.org
3.3.0 on a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Kubuntu yet to see if I
can reproduce the bug, but I will do so as soon as possible.

Apart from that I have not run into any major bugs, but I will
make a Bugzilla entry and update you when I have more
information. I would also gladly test prerelease versions of
Apache OpenOffice 3.4.0 to see if the bug is still there.

Regards,
Sunil
