Re: [D] [DISCUSS] Ship Cua Driver or keep maka-cu for macOS Computer Use? [maka]
GitHub user Astro-Han added a comment to the discussion: [DISCUSS] Ship Cua Driver or keep maka-cu for macOS Computer Use?
Thanks @M4n5ter. I’ve updated #5611 and tested a signed, notarized Maka app on a real Mac. Background writes, foreground input and focus restoration, menu expansion, stale observations, and driver restart passed through the packaged production tool/backend. Partial background menus are reported as incomplete.
I’d like to revise the foreground-consent proposal. Computer Use now follows Runtime Host’s permission mode without another per-action confirmation. Default bypass permits dispatch; Computer Use remains unavailable outside bypass until Host supports managed admission. Background remains the default, with fresh observations and no automatic foreground fallback.
Text selection is a real gap. Typing into an existing selection preserved formatting in TextEdit, but replacing the whole field removed bold, color and italics, including after saving. Cua cannot currently select an arbitrary range or report the selected text.
I recommend keeping #5611 draft until native range selection and selection readback are restored, rather than substituting whole-field writes.
Codex helped implement and test this update.

Codex
