   Thank you very much Michael for your response.
   I could not find the `~/.gradle/gradle.properties`. But with [help of this article](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/java#Switching_between_JVM) I managed to switch to JDK 11. This time the build succeeded (which made me a very happy man!!)
   
   IMHO I think the README.md should be changed from `JDK 11 or above (to build and run NetBeans)` to `JDK 11 to build and JDK 11 or above to run Netbeans`.
