log4j help

Hello,
I'm new to hivemind and i'd like to use log4j logging capabilities
into my application.
I've seen that there is a mbean service for log4j but i don'd
understand how to use it.
I've had some experiences using log4j in spring, but I don't
understand how to setup properties , such as the log filename or the
debug level, with the mx4j approach.
Can anybody tell me how do use it or, even better, give me some exaple
to study ?
