Can you set a property using input task into a properties file
Ant newbie here - I need to capture some user input and then I want to set it
to a properties file so that I can use it later. Does anybody know how to do
this??

Take a look at the input task and the echo task...
Use input to get the user's input to a property.
Then use echo to whatever file you want...something like:
<input message = "enter data: " addproperty="someprop"/>
<echo message="someprop=${someprop}" file="myfile.prop"/>
