Summary:
When resizing a frame in attached Word 97 2004 doc (TBC 2.doc) OO writer
crashes with the error: Fatal Error - Index out of bounds
Environment:
S X: El Capitan 10.11.3.
Open Office: 4.1.2 for OS X (AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696
2015-10-21 09:36:46 (Wed, 21 Oct 2015)
On my machine this is 100% reproducible.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached document "TBC 2.doc"
2. Scroll down to page 24
3. Select the frame by clicking on its border.
4. Enlarge the frame by extending it to the right. (Click and drag the green
mark to the right)
Result: Writer crash with error Fatal error - Index out of bounds
Old word docs sometimes looks a bit strange when opened in OO Writer (see
issue https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125411 ). These docs needs
reformatting to look good. This issue might cause users to choose another
editor.
Issue seems related to this one.

Summary: I was not able to reproduce this bug using the file linked to in this
report. I also tested extending the upper, left, and lower borders, along with
trying to extend all the borders (test 5). Maybe it is some memory problem with
your computer?
Version: 4.1.2 AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696
Specs:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel 17 2600k 3.4 Ghz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 770 (2gb VRam)
RAM: 8 GB
Monitor: Asus 24" Monitor
Test 1:
1. Open document "TBC 2.doc"
2. Scroll down to page 24
3. Select the frame by clicking on its border.
4. Click and drag the green box on the table's right border to the right edge
of the page
Test 2:
As test 1, but at step 4, extend the left green box to the page's LEFT edge.
Test 3:
As test 1, but at step 4, extend the upper green box to the page's UPPER edge.
Test 4:
As test 1, but at step 4, extend the lower green box to the page's LOWER edge.
Test 5:
1. Open document "TBC 2.doc"
2. Scroll down to page 24
3. Select the frame of the table by clicking on its border.
4. Extend all of the table's border's such that all borders (upper, lower,
left, right) are in line with the page's edges.

Or it might be an issue with your specific operating system, seeing as I tested
it on Windows 10 and you used OS X 10.11. Can any MAC users confirm this?

I successfully confirmed replication for this bug when resizing the frame on
for the "TBC 2.doc" file on the 24th page on Mac OS.
Specs:
OS: El Capitan 10.11.6
OpenOffice Version: 4.1.2 AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696
Steps to replicate the bug:
1. Open "TBS 2.doc"
2. Scrolled down to page 24
3. Click on the border of the grey box. Green dots show up. Click and drag the
top right corner dot out of the frame.
Program crashed with a dialog appeared with "Fatal Error - Index out of
bounds".
On the other hand, I was not able to replicate the bug on Window 7
OpenOffice Version: 4.1.2 AOO412m3(Build:9782) - Rev. 1709696
Specs:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel i7 4770k @ 3.5 Ghz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 760
RAM: 8 GB
Steps to replicate the bug:
1. Open "TBS 2.doc"
2. Scrolled down to page 24
3. Click on the border of the grey box. Green dots show up. Click and drag the
top right corner dot out of the frame.
I repeated the process with all other green dots.
This could indicate it is a Mac OS problem.

I attempted this 3 times and the bug was replicated 3/3 for 100% accuracy.
My steps:
1. Open "TBS 2.doc"
2. Scrolled down to page 24
3. Grabbed top right corner of the grey box and dragged up a tad bit outside of
the document frame (green mark indicated drag mode).
Program crashed with same error as the reporter.
Dialog appeared with "Fatal Error - Index out of bounds".
This bug is crucial because it could affect end user workflow by causing loss
of data.
I would propose looking into other operating systems to ensure this bug doesn't
exist elsewhere.
