The problem here is the conditional operator above doesn't handle NULL.
For the conditional operator
{code}
condition ? operand1 : operand2
{code}
What is the correct answer if the _condition_ is NULL?
The current implementation returns an error.
The proposal is to return a valid result with value NULL.
