Hi Les Hazlewood,

i am new in shiro and i have tried the same example but i am getting
following exception, can you tell me what exactly the configuration problem
is?

org.apache.shiro.UnavailableSecurityManagerException: No SecurityManager
accessible to the calling code, either bound to the
org.apache.shiro.util.ThreadContext or as a vm static singleton.  This is an

You can download the  source code distribution

from https://shiro.apache.org/download.html
Uncompress and go to samples web dir
cd shiro-root-1.2.3\samples\web

mvn jetty:run

Open your browser 

http://localhost:9080/

It's working for me
