Novice wants to flush only at specific times

Hi,

  How I set the logger to put log messages into an object
(StringBuffer, for example) and only flushes to a Stream when I want?
It is possible?
  I'm trying to do a scheduler and would like to log it, but don't
want to do any IO operation until something happens.
