As of today, we have at least 3-4 different kind if init scripts.
There can only be one and by experience, the one used by openSUSE works across all supported GNU/Linux distributions.
So this ticket is about using the init script we have for openSUSE for the other platforms as well.

The first step towards unification has been done in the hadoop-0.23 branch. It would be nice to generalize this to all of our init scripts: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/bigtop/branches/hadoop-0.23/bigtop-packages/src/common/hadoop/init.d.tmpl
