CVS Not responding.
Hello,
I've been trying to connect to the CVS repository from my Linux machine
and can't. Here are the details. If there is a better place to seek help
please let me know.
Thanks, Doug
--
1. I have a Linux machine that can ping xml.apache.org and get a
reply.
2. I use the command: "cvs -d
:pserver:anoncvs@xml.apache.org:/home/cvspublic login" and respond
to the "CVS password:" challenge with "anoncvs"
3. Here is the transcript:
$ cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@xml.apache.org:/home/cvspublic login
(Logging in to anoncvs@xml.apache.org)
CVS password: anoncvs (actually hidden)
(press ctrl-c after 10 minutes)
cvs [login aborted]: received interrupt signal
4. We have opened port 2401 to xml.apache.org in our firewall.
Ideas would be welcome.
Thanks again,
Doug

That's what I did to determine it was a corporate firewall problem. Connect Failed so I
got my sys-admin to check the firewall settings and she got it right. I have the sources
now.
Thanks, Doug

Try to do a telnet xml.apache.org 2401, type something weird in there
(like AFASFSAFAIOEIFJPAOFAPFOJA) and enter. Let's see what happens.

No response after a few days so I convinced my sys-admin to retry the firewall stuff
and sure enough that fixed it.
