More on serialization

I have made a series of modifications to my experimental code to accommodate the 
serialization of components that I posted about last time.  The changes are in 
apps.Driver, fo.FOTree, xml.XMLSerialHandler, xml.XMLEvent & 
datastructs.SyncedCircularBuffer.  FOTree and XMLSerialHandler implement Runnable.
