FOP + Acrobat: a strong team
An extended PDF renderer for FOP (Apache's XSL:FO Formatting Objects
rocessor) writes many documents in a single batch run. An optional Batch
Sequence by Acrobat increases the FOP functionality considerably. Who wants
to evaluate this system?

Highlights
o Document splitting: mass production, generate logical sets of
documents from XML input.
o Preprinted forms: spawn pages from a PDF document. Redundancies of
constant, fixed objects are eliminated, so that data volumes and
formatting loads are reduced.
o Bar codes: 3of9 in PDF graphics
o List of generated documents containing
- file names, document and page counters
- postprocessing control: tunnel any info thru FOP, e.g. mail addresses,
sort criteria, archive indexing. A standard mass mailing program is
available.
o Batch operation: no web server required
o Acrobat Batch Sequences: take adavantage of powerful AcroScripts - easy to
develop.
- add objects to pages, dynamically positioned by FOP: form fields,
bookmarks, annotations
- spawn pages from any document
Restrictions
o Base fonts, WinAnsii encoding supported
o SVG rendered as JPEG image
o Batch Sequences have to be run online by an operator
