http client example with cookie management and ssl

How could you do something like what is described in:

http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-04-2002/jw-0426-cookie.html

"A recipe for cookie management ..."

using the coomons http library?

It is basically an http client to retrieve your email from hotmail; a mail 
server that uses both cookies and ssl.
