[jira] [Commented] (IMPALA-11544) Support migrating ACID tables to Iceberg tables

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-11544?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17598323#comment-17598323 ]

Thanks Manish for raising this.
INSERT-only ACID tables could be migrated in-place as the data files don't have a special schema. Similarly to how legacy tables can be migrated.
For Full ACID tables we need to do the above steps in the description.

> To extend Impala support for Iceberg, we should support reading Hive ACID tables and re-creating them in the iceberg format. The steps would be
> # Read ACID table
> # Create iceberg table in V2 format and parquet file format with a temporary name
> # Drop ACID table
> # Rename the iceberg temporary named table to the original table name
> # Collect stats (optionally)
