Docs navigation and hosting improvements
- New docs version switcher for Sphinx main project and C++ docs [4]

- The nightly ("dev") Sphinx docs are now directly accessible on the
main docs site [6]
- There is an open PR to split the Python docs into a separate Sphinx
project [7]
