Request notification when axis session terminates

Summary: Request notification when axis session terminates
           Product: Axis

            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other

Hi All,

Axis supports different sessions. All sessions implement the
org.apache.axis.session.Session interface. What is, according to the comment,
extremely basic at the moment.

One enhancement I would like to propose is the equivalent functionality of
the javax.servlet.http.HttpSessionBindingListener. When an httpSession
terminates, objects stored in an httpHession and who implement this interface
will receive a valueUnbound message when an httpSession terminates.
This can be used to clean up certain resources this object is using.

This behavior will work with the AxisHttpSession. But not with other sessions
(SimpleSession, SNMP session ?, other future sessions implementation)

I think it would be preferable if there is a general Event - Listener model on
the Axis Session interface level which sent an event when a session terminates
to interested listeners.

I can imagine end users can use this to close JCA sessions, clean up memory on
native loaded libraries through JNI, etc.

Let me know if you would like to see a prototype, or if this is just a
ridiculous idea what can be achieved in a much easier way.

Regards,

SFMarco
