Looking for a table library

Hi all,

I have a table in my jsp. To be able to process the data of a row in a table
I want to be able to mark a row in the table and read the content of the
row, through the row number of marked line. I think this a very common
problem, somewhere there must be a solution for this problem.

TIA

Richard Markham

Something like this?
  http://www.superinterface.com/strutsdialog/crudactionlite.do

Also, check out this version of MailReader App:
  http://www.superinterface.com/mailreader
Log on as "user"/"pass", then select "Manage Subscriptions" link, you
will see another version of table -> CRUD panel.

If interested, read more here:
  http://struts.sourceforge.net/strutsdialogs/crudaction.html

In addition datagrid and displaytag, is struts-layout a widely used tool?

Any other open source tools to display a grid or something like this?

Thnx

AW: Looking for a table library

Posted by Martin Kindler <ki...@arcor.de>.
Richard,

this is quite easy.
Here is an excerpt from one of my pages using radio buttons and operations
on rows:

<display:table name="${myActionForm.myCollection}"

decorator="net.cityexperience.view.cms.AccessPointViewDecorator"
			   requestURI="/Edit.do"
			   id="object">

	<display:column property="id" titleKey="id"/>
	<display:column property="name" sortable="true" titleKey="name"/>
	<display:column titleKey="main">
		<html:radio property="main" value="${object.id}"/>
	</display:column>
	<display:column property="editAction" title="">
		<img src="edit.gif"/>
	</display:column>
	<display:column property="detachAction" title="">
		<img src="detach.gif"/>
	</display:column>

</display:table>

The last three columns may be interesting:
the third last is the column using a radio-button, the two at the end
provide an edit- and a detach-method. For the operations I use a
TableDecorator ("AccessPointViewDecorator"), which provides the content (an
URL to a button with the <a>-tag).

How about the Pager Taglib from JSPtags.com? Their examples show radio
buttons to get the 'editable table' concept across.
http://jsptags.com/tags/navigation/pager/index.jsp

Or the Jakarta "DataGrig" taglib from their taglib Sandbox. Their nightly
build has some sharp examples of paging with clickable buttons.
