jk2.properties utility

I'm wondering if jk2.properties is mandatory.
I'm running jboss 3.2.3 which is bundled with tomcat 4.1.29 and apache2 
with mod_jk2
under linux.
I just have workers2.properties and everything works fine.
I don't have any jk2.properties.
Can someone tells me what is the jk2.properties used for?
