Why was this removed?
This removal broke the Phoenix build. Perhaps not such a big deal, but enough
to give us a nag every day from Gump.
Does anyone have any idea what can be done about it?

I decided to change the ExtendedLog4JManager to extend from
AbstractLoggerManager instead, since the Log4jLoggerManager didn't do much..

Ok, but the sources are missing and are needed by some projects using
excalibur logger :)
I will readd them in some minutes.

No problem.
As I mentioned, I have changed the Phoenix code to extend from the
AbstractLoggerManager instead, and transferred the single line method from
the deleted class to the implementation in Phoenix...

Just to clarify: it wasn't me who removed the class. We had a time
when the source for the class was three times in our repository (due
to the source directories refactoring).
I removed the duplicate instances and left one single source file
there. Then weeks later someone else did refactor the source
directories for the logger project again and removed the last
remaining instance of the class :(
I guess, you can take it from the Attic directory and put it
again in CVS.
