ajaxlink, filedownload and Internet Explorer
Hello all
I'm developing an application which is roughly described as a webbased
inbox for a messaging system. Those messages are for example a zip file
or a pdf file. If a file was clicked on it must dissappear in the
"inbox" and must be moved into the "already read box")
I solved this problem with an ajaxlink and a behavior described in:
https://cwiki.apache.org/WICKET/ajax-update-and-file-download-in-one-blow.html
so the user downloads the file, and then the page will be repainted.
works fine with chrome, firefox, but that won't work with internet
explorer (any version) because it will display a download warning. a
subsequent click on that warning will not deliver the file download but
appears to reload on some strange way the page. and the link will be
gone because wicket thinks that the link is clicked and the state is now
changed.
It's possible to add the address as a trusted site in internet explorer
and lower the policy for that. but thats not an option because some user
will have restricted internet explorer and can't change the policies.
Another option is using the resourcelink but there i can't repaint the
page (no ajax), and i will run into yet another ie bug because the site
must be accessed over https:

any ideas or suggestions to solve that problem?
greetings thierry
