What id the difference between Jserv and Tomcat? Can I do JSP pages with just
Jserv or do I need a plugin?

Thanks, Derek

Apache JServ implements the 2.0 servlet API. Tomcat implements 2.2, and includes
JSP 1.1 support out of the box. A lot of work is underway at the moment to make
Tomcat a drop-in replacement for Apache JServ (don't even have to recompile the
web server), as well as setting the stage for future performance improvements. I
would think of Tomcat as the successor to Apache JServ.

You can run JSP pages under Apache JServ with a third party plug-in like GNUJSP,
but you will run into restrictions because of the fact that RequestDispatcher (and
therefore support for <jsp:forward> and <jsp:include>) was not defined in the 2.0
servlet API. I don't know of any plugins that have JSP 1.1 support -- most of
them are 0.91/0.92 (IMHO, stay away from these for new development) or 1.0.
