[users@httpd] Re: auth prob with netscape browsers

sorry, I can be more specific here.
I am using rrdcgi (part of rrdtool)
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/rrdcgi.html
The cgi script creates the gifs on the fly and dumps them in a seperate
html directory which contains the .htaccess file.
The cgi script then parses the html page to the client browser
which reads the gifs from the html dir, its here that Netscape
browsers seem to prompt for a password for every gif:-(

hope this helps

thanks
Steve

What exactly do you mean by "creates and displays" - the CGI makes the images, but how does it "display" them? Do you mean that it makes a new page with <img src> tags pointing to the created images?

Re: [users@httpd] Re: auth prob with netscape browsers

Posted by Sander Holthaus - Orange XL <in...@orangexl.com>.
This sounds more like a problem with Netscape to me. Certain older browsers
do not "cache" entered passwords, thus for every HTTP-connection (e.g. every
image) you'll need to provide a username and password.
Are you using basic or digest authentication?
