[PATCH] Issue #2324: cmdline option for disabling username assumption

Hello,

I've created an implemention for issue #2324, which is an enhancement
marked with target milestone 1.3-consider.  Yes, I know it's a low
priority issue.  Yes, I know it's a pretty inconsequencial
enhancement, but it seemed like a pretty good place to start
contributing.  I do not have commit access, so if someone can commit
it for me (following thorough review, of course), I would appreciate
it.

I've attached the log message and the patch as separate files.
