[jira] [Commented] (LUCENE-8154) TODO List when upgrading to Java 9 as minimum requirement

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-8154?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16425997#comment-16425997 ]

Hoss Man commented on LUCENE-8154:
----------------------------------

Some ref-guide related stuff:
 * {{solr-system-requirements.adoc}} - misc changes
 * {{aws-solrcloud-tutorial.adoc}} – refer to the new java 9 yum package names
 * {{kerberos-authentication-plugin.adoc}} – we can completely remove the info about downloading & updating {{local_policy.jar}} to support unlimited crypto – that's include by default in java9

> This issue is just a placeholder to record stuff that needs to be done when we upgrade to Java 9 as minimum requirement for running Lucene/Solr:
> - Remove {{FutureArrays}} and {{FutureObjects}} from source tree and change code to use Java 9 native methods. Disable MR-JAR building (maybe only disable so we can reuse at later stages)
> - Remove Java 8 bytebuffer unmapping code
> Final stuff:
> - When upgrading to Java 9, don't delete the Java 9 specific stuff for Multi-Release testing from build files or smoke tester! Keep it alive, maybe migrate to later Java (e.g. LTS-Java)
