JXPath / XPAth 2.0 / XQuery

We've been planning to use JXPATH for our expression engine.
Is there any plans for JXPATH to support XPath 2.0 spec?
If not, can you recommend an open source Java implementation for XQuery?

We may be able to contribute to such efforts. Please advice,
