[GitHub] [arrow] thorfour opened a new issue, #36858: [Go] Binary dictionary indices aren't released on panic

thorfour opened a new issue, #36858:
URL: https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/36858

   ### Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.

The dictionary builder will retain the dictionary indicies immediately. However when `GetDictArrayData` is called if the memory allocator panics (for OOM reasons) those indicies will be stranded and not released.

   https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/6695d18eb2d7b8eada68e80f0fb030c12b70aabb/go/arrow/array/dictionary.go#L817-L820

If instead the retain was called after the call to `GetDictArrayData` this problem wouldn't happen.

   ### Component(s)

   Go
