So our sonar jenkins instance does seem to support Gradle, but I'm a bit confused as to the versioning of it.

The gradle plugin for jenkins is version 1.2.4 and when I try to configure a gradle job it states that the Gradle version is 0.9.2 !

So I need to investigate further.
