OM without flash

Hi,

simply put: would it be possible to use the core of OM and rewrite the UI
without using Flash?

best regards

Kim

Do you really think it will take several years of learning?

I have some customers right now that could benefit greatly from OM. So i
better start learning :)

I'll look in to OpenLazlo for a start.

Kims,

1) OM is not written in Flash; it is written in OpenLaszlo which is
open tecnology and can be compiled into HTML5;
2) you can plug-in google codecs which are open if you don't like Flash.

Completing this would take several years of learning though.

Basically what i need is OM without Flash :)

What i see in OM is really really cool. i can see lot of potential for this
kind of product.

But i need to be able to tweak the user interface using HTML5, javascript
and so on. I'm not at all proficient in Flash and since it's a closed
source technology i don't want to spend too much time learning it. not at
all actually.

I think the future is more like html5 so that's what i want to develop for.

We have ongoing work to optionally replace flash with Google codecs.
If you say more about your task we can likely help you more.

Could it be that you want Openmeetings running on iPad? There are
several options to do that, and one includes using Flash.

What a shame.

Do you know of any other infrastructure that serves the same purpose as OM
without the need for flash?

I don't like flash and would'nt build a product based on it.

One thing to keep in mind: you need flash to send video.

The rest is possible. It would take ~ 5 programmer/years.

There are options: you can compile OpenLaszlo into HTML5. That won't
be easier though, that would be much more interesting (instead of
simple rewriting fixing a compiler, looking for parallels between ECMA
and javascript, etc) . :-)
