inheritance in maven 1.0.1

Hi,

   The default properties like maven.repo.remote does not seem to be
inherited properly from the ancestors project.properties. 
Is that the expected behavior in maven 1.0.1?

no, it isn't expected. It seems to be a regression when fixing the >1
level of inheritence bug.
