Logging out from a web app when using BASIC authentication

Is it not possible to logout from a web application while using BASIC
authentication?  I see that logout works as expected when I use FORM
authentication and I am able to login as a different user without closing
the browser.  When BASIC authentication is configured, I have to close the
browser window to be able login as a different user :(
