[jira] Created: (HADOOP-605) The jobtracker UI does not show some
jobs
The jobtracker UI does not show some jobs
-----------------------------------------
Key: HADOOP-605
URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-605
Project: Hadoop
Issue Type: Bug
Components: mapred
Reporter: Mahadev konar
Priority: Minor
we have seen this in streaming, not sure if it happens in hadoop java programs. The jobclient gets a jobid from the jobtracker and then fails to launch the job since hte job is missing a mapper ("No -mapper specified" in streaming). The job is never submitted to the jobtracker and the jobtracker does not have any history of this job. Streaming should inform the jobtracker why the job failed and this should show up in the job UI.

Owen O'Malley resolved HADOOP-605.
----------------------------------
Resolution: Won't Fix
If the submitting program fails before the job is submitted to the JobTracker, the job does not show up in the web/ui. It wouldn't be appropriate to submit the job just for the error message in the web/ui.
