[jira] Created: (MRELEASE-640) Warn if user tries to release with SNAPSHOT version as release version

Warn if user tries to release with SNAPSHOT version as release version
----------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: MRELEASE-640
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MRELEASE-640
             Project: Maven 2.x Release Plugin
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: prepare
            Reporter: Wim Deblauwe

By mistake, I typed "E1.01.01-SNAPSHOT" as release version during {{release:prepare}}. I think maven should warn if you do this. I don't think anyone wants to release with SNAPSHOT at the end.

The reverse check could be done when you have to give the new development version. It needs to be SNAPSHOT at the end there. Again, a warning could help avoid mistakes.
