Also crashing on Linux-32:
AOO411m6(Build:9775) - Rev. 1617669
2014-08-13 09:23 - Linux i686

Increased memory to 30MB for OpenOffice as a precaution. I did not change
memory per object.

Oddly, it seems to crash at different slides each time.

For the record, I can't confirm the crash on Linux 64 bit. I can run oooforum's
slideshow (manually with F5 then PageDown or PageUp) three times (first slide
to last slide, then backwards, then again first to last) and I don't see any
crashes.

Of course, since also those who can reproduce the crash observe it on different
slides, this doesn't mean much. If someone else has a smaller file that always
crashes, we can probably narrow down the problem better.

I downloaded Apache Open Office version 4.1.1 only yesterday. Previously had
version 3.3. I too received the error box: SEH Exception: ACCESS VIOLATION.
Until now never had a problem with the previous version 3.3. I have a slide
presentation with 188 slides, mostly photos, but also text. I have a HP
Pavilion dv7 with 6GB ram Intel Core i7 processor 64-bit. I split the file
into two files, one with 90 slides and one with 98 slides in the hope the files
would be small enough that Apache's software could handle it, but to no avail.
If Apache cannot fix the problem, I see two options: Try to download version
3.3, if it is still available, or save the presentation in Power Point format,
suffix ppt, and then download PowerPoint viewer, which is free. Quite
irritating. Last year I had a presentation with 218 slides about Belgium, and
it worked flawless.

Maybe, but under WinXP we (more 3 persons on french forum) have this error.
According comment #3, under Win7? But bmarcelly don't specify exact version
(x86 or x64).

I have seen this problem on both Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit and Win 7 64 bit. I was

I removed some high resolution images from a talk to get around the problem,
and I no longer have a file which crashes. Sorry about this.

Just tested with Chocolat_Show.odp, using a Samsung laptop running Windows 8
Pro 64bit, with an Intel Pentium CPU B950 @ 2.10 GHz, 4Gb RAM and an Intel HD
Graphics adapter with 32Mb dedicated memory and 1632Mb shared.

The slideshow has consistently failed on slide 12, whether running through the
slides fast or slow. The programme also crashes consistently at slide 22 when
moving through the slides in editing mode.

Tested on Windows 7 and Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1.
________

Using default values for Tools > Options > OpenOffice > Memory
In particular : Graphics cache
Use for OpenOffice = 20 MB
Memory for Object = 5.2 MB

In slideshow, after a variable number of slide changes with the buttons,
OpenOffice crashes. In practice, I cannot explore the entire show without
crash.

_____

New values for Graphics cache :
Use for OpenOffice = 50 MB
Memory for Object = 10 MB

OpenOffice crashes, but only after many slide changes through the entire
slideshow.

It is still a problem because the slideshow is continuously used by the
bystanders of an exhibition.
