[jira] [Created] (SQOOP-898) Improve escaping of column specified in the --split-by parameter

Jarek Jarcec Cecho created SQOOP-898:
----------------------------------------

Summary: Improve escaping of column specified in the --split-by parameter
                 Key: SQOOP-898
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SQOOP-898
             Project: Sqoop
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 1.4.2
            Reporter: Jarek Jarcec Cecho
            Assignee: Jarek Jarcec Cecho

Oracle database is using double quotes (") to escape column names. The same escape character is also used in Sqoop and Hadoop on several places with make it really hard to guess the correct escaping. For example when I wanted to split data by column {{id}} (lower cased), I needed to escape it three times to {{"""id"""}} to get boundary query generated with {{...min("id")...}}. The job with three times escaped split by column then subsequently failed on different place. I think that we should improve that.
