Repositioning automatically autosized Frames

More than a year ago we have reported Issue 123479 [1]. Meanwhile, we
worked on this issue and there were some insights. Most importantly,
in Libreoffice 4.3.4.1 this issue has been fixed. We tried to
find/bisect the commit which corrects the floating behaviour, but we
didn't manage to trace the fix back to a single commit. This bug is
also present in OpenOffice 4.2.

Now I wonder whether any of you guys could point out which parts of
the code could be of interest to find a solution to this problem? A
former colleague of mine, Matthieu Riolo, opened the issue and posted
a patch[2] which seems to partially fix this issue. Is it the right
direction? Does it make sense to you?

We appreciate any hints and help which could lead us to a solution.
