We just started our journey with Impala on HDFS and Impala on Kudu and we
have mixed feelings too. While it is awesome and fast, we already hit 4
major issues during upgrades and benchmarks. It is really frustrating to
see so many breaking changes in a production-grade product. Now it is
arguable if issues we've encountered a huge deal for everyone else, but
they are for us :)

Other than that, Impala is great! We've looked at Hive on Spark, Hive on
Tez, Spark SQL and Drill and Impala beat them all. And Impala + Kudu will
change things around for sure.
