XMLSerializer writeNode() throws generic java.lang.Exception

           Summary: XMLSerializer writeNode() throws generic
                    java.lang.Exception
           Product: Xerces2-J
           Version: 2.0.1
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Serialization
        AssignedTo: xerces-j-dev@xml.apache.org
        ReportedBy: elharo@metalab.unc.edu

The writeNode() method in XMLSerializer is declared to throw a generic
jva.lang.Exception. I don't see any justificstion for this. It should have a
more specific throws clauses that identifies exactly which checked exceptions it
can throw; e.g.

throws DOMSystemException, IOException

Changing this to make it more specific should not break anybody's existing code.
