[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-2323) Build slaves toolchain needs to be
updated for HAWQ

Olaf Flebbe commented on BIGTOP-2323:
-------------------------------------
epel-release repo is fine. It sounds a little bit to me that opensuse build will be broken by this change ?
I do not understand libhdfs3-devel requirement. The libhdfs3 and libhdfs3-devel packages are usually the artifacts from the SPEC / debian package build.
The other option (not covered here) is to let these packages build for all platforms by the opensuse build servive like [~plinnell] did it for protobuf. This is related to BIGTOP-2698 and the strategy we supply not distribution-covered dependencies.
I see the option
* to compile libhdfs3 and libthrift (if this is a requirement ) by simply compiling it in the toolchain setup code like [~Sahil Aggarwal] suggested it for protobuf
* to build and download it by a Bigtop-owned OpenSuse Build service for all platforms.
Since I do not like to introduce more dependencies to other systems I recommend to follow the first. We had problems in the past where OpenSuSE Build Servcie didn't support all of our platforms.
