for 3.0 we will add something called infra-manager (it will contain specific jobs, and from the logsearch ui, you will able to start and monitor some specific jobs), you can find details in the readme.md (it uses spring-batch, so it is something that can be used for that you want)

we will add some sample jobs (right now we have only a dummy one) with the right dependencies but first i will need to get rid of jdk7 support for ambari-server (+ ambari shipped services), which is a big task, then we will upgrade to Solr 6, and write some operations with that (stream data, make zip files from it etc.). so overall i would say you can check that, but as we will add some basic jobs, maybe it worth to wait before you will implement something (maybe in the end you wont be needed to add anything)
