Nóirín Plunkett

As a community of people who knew and worked with Nóirín, over the 
years, I wanted to be sure that folks here are aware of the sudden 
passing of this kind, wonderful person.

The Apache Software Foundation has put a page up at 
http://www.apache.org/memorials/noirin.html to remember her, and I've 
written a few thoughts at http://drbacchus.com/festina-lente/

Nóirín was a powerful influence in the way that the Apache httpd 
documentation has turned out, among many other accomplishments, and we 
will miss Nóirín here enourmously.

It has been recommended that if you want you can send donations to St. 
John Ambulance - http://www.stjohn.ie/donate/ - which was an 
organization that Nóirín volunteered with for many years.

   This is very, very saddening news and quite a shock given her young
age. I'd like to contribute a quotation to her memorial page, if I may...

In my time and workings with the ASF community, very few things stick
out in my mind as much as staying up until 3am talking women's issues in
the corporate world with Nóirín after a late-night ApacheCon hang-out
session... and after tucking in a very silly, drunken colleague. She's
always been a real gem - one that the community will never forget.
