Opening this Jira based on the GitHub issue reported here - [https://github.com/apache/hudi/issues/1735] when hive.input.format = org.apache.hudi.hadoop.hive.HoodieCombineHiveInputFormat it is not able to create HoodieRealtimeFileSplit for querying _rt table. Please see the GitHub issue more details.
