FW: Issue 695

Hi:

I am forwarding you the text of a conversation that I've had with Karl
Fogel in regard to a Subversion problem, #695 that is a huge stumbling
block in our organization: the ability to do an incremental check out on
a single file and still retain the VC history and properties. From
looking at your site it is unclear if there will be a resolution on
this, which is the reason that we are still using CVS, which, btw,
accomplishes at least this function, although a most primitive tool. Can
you comment or tell me when a fix to this will be delivered?
Thank you.

Thanks. The reason I asked was that I had recently been exploring
the issue with friend, but our discussions were entirely private, and
I wondered if somehow I'd posted something to a public list
accidentally. It appears, though, that it was just coincidence that
you happened to mail me about bug #695 just around when I
looked at again after ignoring it for a long time.

Unfortunately, those were only explorations. I can't guarantee any
particular resolution time for the bug. In general, it's better to ask
such questions on dev@subversion.tigris.org; I'm not particularly
active in Subversion development right now, because I just moved
to a new place and am very busy with the usual move stuff. I am
interested in seeing issue #695 solved, and may try to get a solution
designed sometime (on the public dev@ list, of course), but I can't
make any promises.

If you want to get it fixed very badly, the thing to do is hire a
developer,
preferable an experienced SVN developer who already has commit
access to the SVN source tree, to fix it. You can mail dev@ to
find such people. Good luck.
