Validation suggestion

Struts developers:

As I develop more validation classes to be use in my applications I find it
troublesome that if any kind of run time exception gets thrown (null
whatever) the action servlet just pretends like nothing happened and
forwards on to the action. Now, wouldn't it be nice if you could tell the
action servlet whether or return to input in these instances with a generic
error (validation could not complete because: xyz) or an exception to
message translation (for SqlException give this message) or whether to just
return to the action servlet? If the capability is there please point me in
the right direction. If not, maybe I can get some credit for contribution to
the struts project.
