Steve Loughran commented on HADOOP-9657:
----------------------------------------

Varun: I've created a new Wiki entry for this https://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/UnsetHostnameOrPort

We should also have a check for IPV6 addresses (0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0) so that in future, they will trigger the same message

> when an exception is wrapped, it may look like {{0.0.0.0:0 failed on connection exception: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused; For more details see:  http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/ConnectionRefused}}
> We should recognise all zero ip addresses and 0 ports and flag them as "your configuration of the endpoint is wrong", as it is clearly the case
