[jira] Created: (AVRO-10) add fixed-size type

add fixed-size type
-------------------

                 Key: AVRO-10
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AVRO-10
             Project: Avro
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: spec
            Reporter: Doug Cutting

Avro should support an opaque binary type whose size in bytes is specified in the schema. This would permit, e.g., single-byte values, short values, and efficient representations for checksums pseudo-random values such as MD5 and SHA, dates, etc.

                qdox-1.10-20090420.183942-5.jar

This is a complete implementation for Java, and updates the spec document.

Note that a new, unreleased version of qdox is required to fix a paranamer-related bug.
