tomcat shutting down

I installed tomcat 4.1.24 on solaris 9 for sparc, and it works fine after
startup.sh until I log out of my unix session. Tomcat dies
when I log out. I did an install on solaris 8 and did not have
this problem.  I tried nohup, but same prob, but only on Solaris 9.
I submitted a bug, but it was dismissed out of hand since
they had it running fine on linux.
