A question regarding forking an apache project

Please excuse my rather uneducated posting here, I'm just trying to ensure
that I don't breach the conditions of the
http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0

I'm currently looking at forking an apache project, which is currently under
this license, if I wish to publish the project do I need to include the
original source code in the release ?

I'm going to be changing the package names of the many of the classes in the
project and also a fair bit of the code, at which point does it become new
code, rather than derived ?

Any help gratefully received.

Regards,

Jools Enticknap

Derived == start from ASF code
